A most enjoyable time was spent at the Tolagii- Bay Parish Hall lasi, night when the students of (lie District High School held a dance jii aid of their magazine. The supper was provided by the school girls under the capable management of several members of the social committee, Misses I. Colebrook. J. Mac Donald, X. Farrell and iM. Kemp. Mr. IV MacDonald was the M.C. Owing to (fne weather there wfts a good attendance and the function proved a great success. Music was rendered by Mesdames Colebrook and Mullooly, Misses 11. 1,. Ballons and A. Male, and Messrs, ("lark and Lockwood.—Special. This summer mav see the commencement of at least two important bridge Works in Poverty Buy. The concrete piles are. at present being fabricated in Gisborne fur the new To Aral bridge, and it is expected that work on the bridge site will be commenced early in Ibo new year. In 1 lie meantime investigations will be made with regard to the spun lengths in connection with the proposed bridge over the Waipaoa River at Kaitnratahi, and boring operations may be desirable in order to ascertain the suitability of the foundation. No definite arrangements have been made, yet, as to when tile work is to be commenced, but. it is thought it,may be put in hand towards the close of the summer.
