MEMBERS' SALARIES
QUESTION OF INCREASE
PREMIER FAVORABLE
(Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, last night,
A deputation of representative members of all parties waited on the* Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, yesterday. seeking an increase in honoraria. Your representative has, learned that Sir Joseph Ward gave -members a patiefct and sympathetic hearing. It was pointed out that nothing could be done this session, but next year when legislation was introduced effect would in all probability be given to their request. Sir Joseph made it plain that he had always been of the ppinion that members should receive more than £450 per year. He was in sympathy with their request and would consider the whole matter carefully with a view to giving effect to it next session. No amount was mentioned. >
