LOCAL ASSOCIATION THE SEASON'S FIXTURES Fixtures for the current season were authorised by the executive of the Poverty Bay and Fast Coast Lawn Tennis Association, at a meeting held this week, when there were proseni Messrs N. 11. Bull (chairman), C h. Margoliouth, B. Woodrow, A. If. Lange, Dawson F. Chrisp, M, J. White, and' O. Mirfield (lion, secretary). Messrs G. Alley and F. N. Holder forwarded apologies or unavoidable absence. Tournaments arranged as under were authorised:— Huatoria ( lub tournament, December :2b. Tol.'iga Ba\ tournament, January 29. Waipiro Bav rournament, January 1. The secretary's action in granting permits for matches between Te Kn-raka and Paha, and Te Ilapara and Gifibornc clubs respectivdy, was confirmed, though il wan ■pointod out thai tin 1 Pnlia club had not yet affiliated with the association, and that under the policy adopfi'd at the annual general meeting aftiliated chilis recommended to refrain from making engagements with (dubs not represented on ih" association. The secretary was asked to write to the I'uha club, pointing out the advantages of membership. The quest ion of a possible clash between the littatoria tournament ou Boxing Day and'that id' the association at Cisborne on the same day was raised, bill it was considered, that in view of the distance between the headquarters of the two clubs there could be no objection to both tournaments being authorised. One of the effects of affiliation with the association was evidenced in a report which stated that one player who had previously elected to play for City club in all inrer-clnb engagements had been excluded from the Cisborne club team, although he was a member of the latter club also. The acliou taken by the association officials in this con nee! ion was endorsed.

The Tolaga Bay .dub advised thai Mr. F. X. Holder had. retired from .his position as-delega'te for the club ou the association executive, and thai Mr, D. P. Chrisp had been appointed in his place. The change in representation was agreed to.

Compliance wild the association's rules in one direction, but neglect to comply in another, was instanced in connect ion with the recent match be tween Waipiro and Te Araroa. The results of the match had been reported, as desired, but the match itself had not had the authority of the association. The executive directed that both clubs concerned be advised of the necessity of obtaining, beforehand, approval (if projected inter-club matches. Acceptance of their appointments as delegates to the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association, from Poverty Bay and the Bast Coast, was notified by Messrs N. A. Fodeu and R. Beer. la connection with the H. B. Williams Shield competition, between district teams, the executive decided that for general convenience the ('oast and Te Haparu-Country areas be asked to dispose of their tio before Christmas, if possible. The secretary reported that arrangements w-ere well in hand for the association's tournament, to be held in Gisborue on December _''>, 27, i.'B and 29. The entries were slow in coming iu, but t-he usual rush at the lust moment should bring the totals up to a good standard. The junior competitions in the- boys and girls' section were worthy of good support, and it was hoped that the younger players would enter in sufficient numbers to justify the inclusion of these sections in the programme. Me mentioned that entries would close on Saturday next at 6 p.m. The use of the Cisborne club's courts for the purposes of the Christmas tournament was offered by the elub executive, and was accepted with thanks by the association, '.appreciation of the club's offer being recorded in the minutes.
