BILLIARDS

HOW SMITH SUCCEEDS

(Per Tress Association.) WELLINGTON, this day

Walter Lindrum, who has returned here, attributes his brother's failure against Smith in England principally to the fact that the latter never plays but on one particular table, which he knows to a fraction of an inch. It is for this reason that Smith does not enter for the world's championship. Walter says if he succeeds in the world championship he will challenge Smith to play on a new table, but will under no circumstances play him on his own. He added that through McConaehy's unfortunate illness his tour had not been a financial success.
