OBITUARY

There died on his farm near Opotiki, an old identity, Mr. C. B. Rogers, aged 82. He was born in Cornwall in 1846 and came to the Dominion in April, 1874, landing at Auckland from the sailing ship Fern Glen. He was twice married. Mr. Rogers was a prominent member of the Masonic Lodge, being a past master. Ho Avas for nearly 60 years a member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows, and Avas the first noble grand of the Opotiki Lodge, No. 58. He joined both Orders while living in the United States before he came to New Zealand. Sympathetic reference Avas made at last night’s meeting of the Gisborne Boxing Association to the death of Mr. G. Richardson, one of the keenest of local supporters of boxing. A vote of eoi dolence was accorded the relatives of -the late Mr. Richardson.
