EGYPTIAN SITUATION

THE BRITISH ATTITUDE NO INTERFERENCE (British Official Wireless.) Roe. noon. . . RUGBY, July 23. Replying to questions in Parliament S to-day, the Foreign Secretary said-he had no statement to make on the re- | cent development in Egypt. The attitude of the British Government remained unchanged. It regarded the Egyptian Parliament and constitution primarily as matters for the King. of Egypt and the Egyptian people to determine. He had had some previous indications of what was going to .happen from Lord Lloyd, the British. High Commissioner, and he had carefully refrained from expressing any opinion ,' or tendering any advice. It had been the consistent policy of His Majesty's Government to refrain, as far as possible, from interference in purely Egyptian affairs and. to, safeguard only those interests -which Britain had to maintain, and those obligations which it was Britain's duty to fulfil.
