A meteor of unusual brilliance was seen to fall from the sky at a point .somewhere over the sea beyond North Head at 9.25 on Thursday evening. A Devonport resident described the glare as dumbfounding in its brightness, and another spectator stated that for sevoral seconds it would have been possible to read a newspaper. The meteor descended slowly, and lit. up a large area of sea with si green phosphorescent glow. —Auckland Star.
