The following resolution was earned: " That the Government he requested to consider tiro advisability of setting up a. council comprising representatives of the Fisheries Department, fishermen, trawl owners, fishmongers a,nd wholesale merchants to act in an advisory capacity' in developing the industry from the local and export aspects." It was suggested, in order to make salmon a, marketable proposition, that for three months every year licenses be granted for the lease of stretches of the principal rivers in the Dominion for netting. Revision of the transport rates also was urged, it being stated as an example that where, a ease of fruit vailed from Balclutha to Dunedin cost Is sd, a ease of fish of the same weight cost 2s lOii. "Mr. Hofford stated that the Fisheries Department had already ap* preached the Railway Department on this matter.
