MATAWHERO .STOCK SALE STOKE SHEEP PRICES ADVANCE The entry of si on 1 sheep at the Matawhero stock sale yesterday totalled 7400. The quality was rather lielow tho usual standard, a good proportion of the ewes offering being low mouthed sheep lacking condition. The sale was decidedly brisk, and prices generally showed ah advance. The highest price for ewes was £i 3s for two-tooths, fairly good in size. early shorn and good conditioned. .A pen of 182 empty 2-tootli ewes, a good even lot in forward condition, made £1 Is lid. A line of 140 4-tooth to 5-year ewes, mouths guaranteed, an early shorn, fresh conditioned good lot, sold at £1 2s lOd. Five and 6-year ewes, early shorn, good size and condition, made 18s 10d, and 5-year ewes in good store condition 18s Bd. Some of the plainer sorts of ewes offered were: ]IS old, fair condition, (p) 14s !>d; 228 ewes, fairly plain, little condition. 14s lid'; 74 empty, condition fair, lis 4d; 121 ewes, condition easy, age doubtful, 10s 7d; 13(3 late shorn, little condition, 10s 4d; 151 empty, no condition, lis 7<l. Twenty-four years ago Macfarlane Bros, imported Corriedale sheep from New Zealand for their estate at Bolong.
