WATER POWER
A QUEENSLAND PROPOSAL. BRISBANE, Nov. 3. An application has been made to the warden by Reginald Howard MoleswortP for registration of a water right to construct a dam to hold 250,000 gallons on the Barron River, about 10 chains above the Barron Falls, for the purpose of using power obtained from the falls for the concentration and, treatment of mined ores. The applicant is an Australian, and at the present time is managing director of the California Tin Creek Co. >, The scheme is to erect electro-chemical and metallurgical works on the river for the treatment of ores, and it is understood that if private capital is allowed to develop the falls £2,0C0,C00 might be made available by British investors. It is understood that Professor Irvine, of Sydney, is among those interetesd in the scheme.
