Fire, caused by a painter’s blow lamp used in burning off operations, broke out at the White Hart hotel, New Plymouth. Workmen observed smoke coming through the partitions and one of the cornices at the entrance was found to l>o well alight. The hasty removal of some' hoards and the application of extinguishers kept in the building quickly suppressed the outbreak before any serious structural danmgo occurred.
