URGENCY RECOGNISED

GISBORNE INFANT SCHOOL Representations have been made by tho Gisborne School ComrniWee, through the district member, to the Minister of Education, with the object of having the rebuilding of the infant department at Gisborne taken up at an eariy date. There seems to be a prospect of success in the representations, for the Minister, in a letter to Mr. W. D. Lysnar, M.P., has acknowledged the necessity for rebuilding this portion of the school, and states that he hopes to put the matter before Cabinet at an early date. Tho copy of the Hon, R. A. Wright's letter to Mr. Lysnar, forwarded to the school committe, is in the following terms : " With reference to your recent interview with me, when you showed me a telegram from the secretary of the Gisborne School Committee regarding the urgent need to rebuild the infant department, of that school, I have to say that the Education Board recognises the necessity for this work, and is at present looking into the final estimate. I hope to place the matter before Cabinet at an early date." The district member, in forwarding the above letter, commented that ho hoped to have a final reply in a few days, and expected the result of trie department's examination of the estimate to be favorable. " I hope it will enable the school to be taken in hand at once," concluded Mr. Lysnar.
