The Now Zealanders, Messrs J. B. Elliott and A. M. S. MacKeu/.ie, Cambridge, B.A.’s, acquitted themselves with distinction, raking honors tn law ;,1 the tripos examination. University athletics has sustained a loss in the departure of the New Zealand boxer, Mr. G. U. MeHardy, who has also qualified for his B.A. ' Mr. E. C. Levvey, S.M., left Gisborne this morning on his periodical visit to the Coast, and was presiding at the sitting of the Magistrate’s Court at Tvdaga- Bay to-day. Mr. Levvey proceeds thence to Waipiro Bay and Port Awanui, and will return to Gisborne about the end of the week, leaving again early next week on his monthly visit to VVairoa.
Mr. W. T. Bruntou, who has oecupicd the position of manager of the wool branch of the Wairarapa Farmers’ Association for many years, is retiring from the linn’s service. Air. Bruntou holds the unique record 0.l having attended the lirst wool sale held in Wellington in 1890, and of not having missed more than a couple of sales since.
A farewell was tendered to Mr. D. S. B. Heather, of Paengaron, at n gathering of friends at To Puke. Mr. Heather, who is leaving New Zealand fur Western Australia, to take up a position in the Survey Department of that State, was formerly engineer in charge of the drainage operations on the Wnihi swamp. He represented the Ray of Plenty at football on a. number of occasions, and was also captain e,f tin 1 To Puke Rugby representatives.
