(Herald Correspondent.) The Wairoa Fire Board ended the year well within its estimate of expenditure. The estimates of expenditure were: General, £625, actual expenditure, £454 16s 2d. Capital—estimates, £2200. The actual expenditure was £2023 12s lid. Miss Ruessell, of Auckland, is on a visit to Wairoa. Sergeant Wade, besides lending Gisborne a fine 22-pointer head, secured at Mahia, for the court at the Auckland Winter Show is also contributing other trophies of the chase, and‘Maori relics. The 'Rev. N. G. McNenr, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, is to visit Wairoa on July 10. He takes both services in St. Andrew's that day. Miss F. Foot, the district commissioner of the Wairoa Girl Guides, has returned from Napier, having met Miss Behrens, deputv Chief Guide, there. Air.. H. Grout is at- Havelock North, recuperating after bis recent illness. Master \\ . limes, son ot the borough electrical engineer, has been appointed to the position of junior clerk recently vacated by Master Clifford. Miss A. Bunting lias resigned her position as assistant clerk in the Wairoa Borough Council office. The Rev. E. T. Olds, Methodist Munster, is paying a visit to Wairoa. Air. .T. T. Morrison, supervisor at the Wairoa post, office, who is under transfer to Gisborne, was farewelled on Thursday night. The Rev. Father Hickson piesided over a good attendance of members of St. Peter’s Church, and presented Air. Morrison with a fountain pen. Mr. Morrison suitably replied. Airs. Rist gave an “at home” in honor of Mrs. Price, the following being present : Alesdames Somerville, Chap man, .Milne, Bygum, Black and Whit-
more. The Scottish Society is promoting a “Children’s Night.”
There was again a good attendance at the social in connection with the Convert schools. The winners of the prizes for the euchre tournament were Miss Neale and Airs. Rees, and Alessrs. W. Gates and Pikiwai.
