DOBSON DISASTER
COMMISSION'S FINDING
(l’er Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day
The report of the Royal Commission set up to inquire into the Dobson colliery disaster on December 3 last was released for publication to-day by the Minister of Mines, the Hon. G. J. Anderson. The commission states that it has failed to ascertain with certainty the cause of the explosion, though it seems clearly established that its great, violence was due. to the presence of coal dust in tlio mine.
Recommendations are made for additional regulations governing the use of lamps, and other matters, but the opinion is expressed that the existing legislation, if carried out, is ample. to ensure safely >ll coal mines. Constant vigilance on tin part ol inspectors is considered: locessaiy, and it is pointed out that some tightening up in Illis regard may prove beneficial.
