FEILDING STOCK SALE. (Per Press Association.) FEILDING, last night. At the Feilding stock sale to-day there was a large yarding, and a large attendance of buyers. A good yarding of fat sheep sold at a slight decline on late rates. Extra good line of five-year ewes r.w. S.D. rams brought 265, fat wethers 22s 9d, 23s 3d to 25s 6d, lambs 17s 3d, 19s 3d, 21s 3d, 225, 26s 6d, ewes 15s. 15s Id to 19s 3d. and f and f ewes 7s lOd, lis 6d to 13s Id.

Stores.-—Wether lambs 13s Id, 15s 7d. 16s, crossbred Romney ewes r.w. Rom. rams 19s 4d, 3, 4 and 6-th ewes r.w. S.D. rams 14s 4d, 19s lOd, 22s 9d to 265, P vve lambs 12s to 15s 9d to 23s 3d ; m.s. 13s, 14s Id to 17s 2d.

There was a nood yarding of all classes of cattle, bin a poor sale. Dairy stuck were yarded, in full quality, but were very hard to sell. Fat cattle were in excess of the demand and nearly every pen was passed. Store cattle were yarded in small quantities and met with poor competition. High-priced favorite stocks collapsed on the Stock Exchange, quotations falling rapidly. General Motors and Baldwins led tho decline, which represented 7to 10 points. The speed of the fall led to a huge marginal loss, the "bears" enjoying their first victory in weeks. The selling spasm seemed to be inspired by an exceptionally large increase in brokers' loans, which are close to the maximum record of last year.

It.was Wall Street's sharpest reaction this year. Prices had been rising almost uninterruptedly since November last, and industrial stocks had touched record high levels for all time, railways reaching maximum heights for 20 years. MATAWHERO STOCK SALE The total entry of store sheep at the Mat an hero stock sale yesterday was 4100. The proportion oi' hoggets was larger than usual, and the quality better, very few indifferent ones being yarded. The demand throughout was good, particularly for hoggets, for which prices again improved. Wethers (uul ewes were firm; at about lato rates.

Breeding ewes sold tip to 20s 10cl for a pen of 245 2, 4 and 0-tooth, with a few 8-tooth. This was a good" pen of heavy skinned ewes in good order. Some other prices of breeding- owes were: 182 4-tooth to 5-year, being big sheep in great condition, £1; 164 2tooths, a good pea, (p) 19s 4d; 293 5 and 6-year, guaranteed, a' first class line, (])) IDs; 111 guaranteed mouths, good frame and condition, (p) 17 6d; 65 ewes, no condition, 10s Bd. The, top price for wethers was 22s 2d, for a small lot of 23. These were very forward and early shorn. Another pen made 20s lid, and a line of 338 in good order and early shorn, from R. W. Coop's station, Nick's Head, made 21s Id. A pen of 109, good condition and fair size, but rather late shorn, (p) 19s Id. Empty ewes, very forward, sold up to 14s 3d and 14s Id. A pen of 02, big fresh conditioned, made 13s 4d, while a pea of 100, not very big, but well forward, went at 12s lOd. The top price-for hoggets was 16s '7cl for a small pen of woollies. Other pens sold as follow: 91 woolly, a straight line of sturdy hoggets, 16s f>d; 400 wether, shorn, first class and full of buck,, (p) 10s; .154 woolly, a straight line, well grown, good store condition, 15s 7d; 300 wether, shorn, a straight line, well grown and bright, (p) 14s lOd; 203 wethers, shorn, good size, in fair order, 13s 7d.

Eliott Ltd., have received cable advice of the following Smithlield prices for the week ended dune 24:—"Best North Island prime lambs, U/361b9 B*d, do. 30/43, Sd, 42/50 7id; ordinary North Island lambs, U/42 S|d, do. second quality, U/42 B}d; best North Island wethers and/or maiden ewes, 50/42 ssd, do. 04/72 and 0/72 4fd; ordinary North Island wethers and/or maiden ewes, 48/56 5Jd, do. 04/72 and 0/72 4gd; North, island ewes, U/64 4Jd, do. 04/72 and 0/72 33d.
