NO LOAN MONEY
HIGHWAYS BOARD FINANCE I ' . (Special to the Herald.) I i : WELLINGTON, this day. I Following the monthly meeting of the Main Highways Board, it is announced that several applications for grants came, forward for' consideration, but had to be declined pending the review of the annual estimates. Except for the £200,000 to be transferred from the Public Works fund, the board will have no loan money to operate o*n during the current financial "year, but must temporarily draw on its revenue balance, and this necessitates a policy of caution. I Several amendments to the Acts affecting the board's operations were considered,'and the board is making the necessary representations- so that «they can be dealt with during' this session of Parliament. The board will make its annual review of main highways next month.
