FEES FOR PEERAGE
EYNG WILL NOT PAY LONDON. June 11. Although, a viseountey was conferred on Baron Byiig of Vimy, _ in October, in recognition of his services at; Governor-General of Canada, it has not vet been gazetted, the delay being due "to the high cost of the gazetting fees, which Lord Byng refuses to pay. The fee for the gazetting of a peerage or of an elevation therein ranges from £330 in the case of a barony to £7JO for a. dukedom, for which the recipients of the peerage receive letters patent bearing a wax model of the King's seal. The Evening News says it is understood that the fees which Lord Byng refuses to pay were remitted in the cases of Lords Haig, Jellicoe, Beatty, AUenby. Oxford, Balfour, Chelmsford, Mid Birkenhead.
