The Gisborne police have in hand a sum of money which was picket! up recently, and tlio owner of which lias net yet been traced. A keen appreciation of the desirability of Riving the electric service to country dwellers was shown by Mr. A. ('. Steele, a country member of the Poverty Bay Power Board, at to-day's meeting, when he asked for an intensive canvass of the route of the power line between Monckton's corner and via Gentle Annie to \Vaereng:t-o-kmi. He pointed out tiiai unless the line could be earned along this section, the big demand in the Hangaroa valley and the Tanunga roao could not be tapped. The engineer. MY. W. H.
