DAMAGES CAUSED BY NURSES' STRIKE. JOHANNESBURG, .May 1. A color clash involving vital issues is now developing in Mafeking Hospital, wllere the- nurses havo struck as ;i pro lest, against a black doctor operating on white women. Dr. Modiri Situs Molenia, who is the sou of a Bechunaualund chief and took his medical degrees of M. 8., Ch.B. at Glasgow in 1919, is now suing the Government for £1(300 damages in consequence of the altitude of the nurses. Tjie dispute is dividing the country into two camps, but the majority of organised public opinion seems to support thn nurse's. They are inundated with telegrams from all parts of South Africa congratulating them and urging them to stand fast. The hospital board of control is divided in opinion also, but (he majority of the members support the nurses. The chuirnran. who is also Ihe legal adviser of the Beehuauabind Government, and the principal medical officer have resigned, as they sympathise with Dr. Mojeoia.
