The Poverty Bay Power Board chairman was to-day given authority to forego the charges for lighting at entertainments for charitable purposes.
Auckland: To arrive at 2.30 p.m., Makura, from Wellington. The bedplates and crank-shafts of the new power'wilts at the power house are now being laid, and other portions of the. machinery are coming to hand with satisfactory regularity, according to the report made to-da.y by .Mr. «). R. Tamplin, consulting engineer to the Poverty Bay Power Board. The only point on which uncertainty is felt is the date of the arrival of the flywheel for the first engine, which had not been supplier with the crank-shaft, as Visual. He did not know why the contractors for tUe supply of the units bad departed from their usual practice in regard to the fly-, wheel, and he had given instructions 1 that the contractors be communicated i with, for information as to when the flywheel could he expected. The board j should, take a serious view of any delay which may occurr in connection with I the delivery, since the contractors had ' already been met reasonably on the score of delay through the strike at '. home. j
The Poverty Bay Power Board to-day decided to pay the expenses of its own initial election, amounting to over £l3O. The hoard bad previously declined to pay these accounts, which were tendered by the local bodies who had conducted the election in their respective areas, but the chairman, Mr. F, B. Ball, mentioned to-day that the finance committee now recommended that the demands be met.
