NEW GOLD REEF
EXCITEMENT AT GISBORNE, VICTORIA GISBORNE, (Vic), June 4. Considerable excitement prevails throughout the district in consequence of the discovery of what is thought to he a payable gold reef four miles from the slnte quarries, Bullengarook East. The reef was discovered by two men, Grant and Irvine. A reef was discovered in the same locality about. 10 years ago. On Friday, 'Messrs H. J. Hully, L. 11. Nicholcr and a Mr. Dawson, belonging to the South Victoria Gold Prospecting Co.; of Melbourne, went to the scene of the discovery, and returned late last evening. This morning they paid the site a second visit. They seem to bo well pleased with the discovery. A great deal of gold has been taken from the alluvial bed of Goodman's Creek ever since 1860, and although all engaged in mining believe in the existence of a reef, it could not be located.
