At the Stadium Reg. Trowern, 10.1 (New Zealand) outpointed Sid Buxton, 9.13 (England) in ar 15-rounds contest, which was fought at a fast late throughout. The Englishman was badly punish ed. Trowern forced the fight from the commencement, but tired after the twelfth round. Buxton was floored twice in the second round, but recovered and fought., back. The tenth was a terrific round. Trowern attacked strongly, but Buxton made a good stand and steadied the New Zealander with a right and left to the head. From the twelfth round the New Zealander was tiring. Buxton scored frequently and in the thirteenth round shook Trowern.
For the remaining rounds the New Zealander held on "a lot, and was cautioned by the referee, but at the conclusion had a comfortable margin on points, and received a popular decision.
