Sir Ronald Graham, British Ambassador in Rome, states in his letter to the Italian Prime Minister; “It is with deepest pleasure that 1 convey the proposal of giving the greatest flier the highest, decoration that can be conferred on a British aviator. British men followed the Marches© de l’inedo’s latest. feat, with the utmost interest, and also recall his previous flight when he landed at several British ports, where he left an unforgettable record of sportsmanship, 'frankness, unpretentiousness and efficiency.”
The conferment of this honor is greet ed by the Italian press with many ex pressions of appreciation.
POSTPONED UNTIL AUTUMN LIEUT. CARR’S FLIGHT (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (N.Z., and A.P.A., and Sun.) (Received June 20, 1 p.m.) LONDON, June 19. “ It- is unlikely that I will re-start the flight, before the autumn,” said Lieut. Carr. “ The engine must be taken out and overhauled, which will take several days. Meanwhile the monsoon has oo-eui-red, advancing in the region of our flight, for which a postponement is necessary. ”

AIR MINISTRY CRITICISED LONDON, June 9. The (aeronautical correspondent of the Westminster Gazette says -that the Air Ministry’s purblind official policy towards tlie development of aviation could not be better exemplified than by the, fact that both Lindbergh’s and Chamberlin’s .machines would be i;efused British certificates of airworthiness.
