MAYOR LOSES SEAT
SOLICITORS’ DECISION
(Per Press Association.;) NAPIER, tnis day. The Mayor, Mr. J. Vigor Brown, today was informed by the borough solicitors that a firm in which lie was interested buying sold cement to the council •in the year prior to his election, and' for which payment was made after his election, be automatically forfeits his seat. ,
The money was repaid to the council by the firm concerned, and this tact led his solicitors to the opinion that Mr. Brown was eligible for re-elec-tion. The amount involved was £57.
