Tense Moments During Court Case
There were some tense moments during the hearing of an assault case in the Christchurch Supremo Court, when a young woman Who was being cross-examined became upset. She quivered in the witness box and then in a hoarse, strained voice called: “Ciir. You cur you.” She was looking in the direction of the prisoner’s dock at the time. A police constable who was near the box steadied the young woman, and a 'glass of water was brought for her. The witness was assisted out of the box by a matron and was given a scat in the body of the court. The crossexamination was then proceeded with. —P.A.
