DO MEN WEAR TOO MUCH?

WOMEN PROVE THAT LIGHT CLOTHING IS BEST. LONDON, March 21. "Men are proving," said an otticial of the New Health Society to a reporter, ''that the more one wears the more one needs to wear. Women have proved that Iho less one wears the less one needs to wear. "There is not the slightest doubt that women are on the right track in wearing light clothing, for the more tlie body is exposed to the action of light .'iml air the titter it heroines." The ordinary modern woman of fashion is wearing just now only 31b of clothing, including shoes and hap and gloves, while the average man, fully dressed, carries 121 b lloz. And yet he feels the cold more. The view held by fashion experts is that women, having so thoroughly acclimatised themselves to light clothing, do not suffer in health however little they wear. The medical opinion is that it is precisely because they wear so little that the women of to-day not- only keep warm but keep healthy too. The New Health Society is setting up a special committee of experts—medical, scientific, and sartorial—to deal with the question of reform in men's dress. The object is to discover what is the ideal clothing for men—and women—to wear. • WOMEN'S FEWER CLOTHES. • OTTAWA. March 20. Evidence before the Advisory Tariit Board this afternoon shows that Canadian women now wear an average of 21b 70/. of clothes, compared witli 81b a few years ago.
