(Received January 17, 1 P- m -) MELBOURNE, January 17. _ A meeting of the Australian Tennis Council appointed a committee to watch the form of contestants in the Australian tennis championships at the end of this month, and to pick a team it it thought advisable to participate in the 1927 Davis Cup matches. The council agreed to permit matches between amateurs and professionals, provided Die Slate Tennis Associations were placed in full control of the matches and the proceeds wore devoted to some tennis purposes. It also was decided that Australia slinidd vote in favor of Geiinany being allowed to enter the Davis Cup eompetitiony and favoring the cup lining oniupclod for annually.
