There was landed on Saturday from the Sussex a young elephant- and a I igross fur the - Wellington Zoo. The elephant, which will he known as “ .Nellie,” appears to be docile, and obeys the commands of ber keeper, Sbeia Arju Hia, readily. The tigress, on the other hand, is a veritable shrew. On the voyage out she was in the charge of the ship’s butcher, who did his best for her. She, responded by taking a few slices out of I)is hand when lie fed her. Yesterday she. refused! to gratify the public curiosity by remaining out of view all dav.
