EMPIRE AIR LINES
i APPEAL TO DOMINIONS. ) LONDON, October 26. Lord Montagp of Beaulieu appeals to the Imperial Conference through tho columns of the Times to lay the- foundation of Imperial air routes with the financial backing of all tin 1 Governments <«f the Empire. | Who can doubt, he says, that 50 j years hence, the ordinary means of transport to India, Australia, New Zealand, the Cape, the West Indies and other distant parts of the Empire will be by air.
J We, need more research work, more machines, more orders for struggling - firms, Hie perfecting of a. chain of refuelling stations along Hie air routes—and all these things cost money. "We, the overtaxed people of the old mother country," continues Lord Montagu, "are doing our best. Individual linns, shareholders and pioneers have contributed splendidly lo such progress as we have made. Has not the Lime come when other parts of the Empire should take some responsibility for our air future? Won't they help us to .safeguard the air trade routes as they have helped our Navy in the past, in that same spirit of comradeship and in our common interest?"
