TWO BANKS ROBBED
CASHIERS BUNDED WITH PEPPER. LONDON, Oct. 21. Two banks, 500 miles apart, were robbed On" the same day by thieves who employed exactly similar tactics. One bank was f ,t Plymouth and one at Basle, in Switzerland. A man walked into the East Stonehouse branch of Barclays Bank, and threw the contents of a bag of pepper in the face of- Mr. W. R, Houghton, the cashier. A violent struggle followed,, and the man finally made off with ten pounds. An "Italian entered the Alder Bank, in Basle, and asked to change some money. He then threw a handful of pepper in the eyes of the cashier, grabbed a handful of notes, and fled. He was subsequently arrested.
