"NO PRACTICAL BENEFIT"
IMPERIAL CONFERENCE PESSIMISTIC CANADA (Elec. Tel. Oopj right—United Preea AasnJ Australian and .'N Z. LaDU) Association OTTAWA, Nov. 24. In the opinion of Mr. Hugh Guthrie, acting Conservative leader, the report of the Imperial Conference "raised questions of the greatest importance to Canada and the Empire." "I fail," he said, "to sec anything in the conclusions viewed iu any way as strengthening or consolidating Imperial interests. The tenor is- all the other way. As an actual statement of tho status quo between the Domiuions and the Mother Country, the report may be of some value, but I fear the whole tendency of the document is to loosen rather than strengthen the foundations of the Empire without conferring any practical benefit upon the Dominions."
