PRICES FIRM
, AUCKLAND WOOL SALE COMPETITION GENERAL (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. The first wool sale of the season in Auckland opened to-night before a large bench of buyers, representing all the wool-consuming countries. Competition was keen throughout, The offering this year opened up lighter in condition than iu the previous season. As the \arious lots were offered competition was general. Notwithstanding the adverse reports from the London sales which opened on November SJ3, the prices to-night were decidedly firmer than at the previous sales in the Dominion this season. Pieces and bellies showed a considerable advance on tho Wanganui sales owing to the quality suiting French buyers. A complete range of prices is at present unavailable, as the sale will continue till midnight, but the sale is progressing well with an upward tendency in values. The wool is being well dis'tributed, Bradford and Continental buyers beiug strongly in the market.
