SWIMMING
AUSTRALIA'S BEST. Six Australian swimming champions will compete in the pan-Pacific Games in Japan next August. It will be the first, occasion on which Australia has been represented. The invitation has been sent through, the Japanese- Association to th'o Australian Swimming "Union and awaits the union's endorsement, which* there is no doubt, will soon be given. The Australians will compete against the fastest swimmers from Japan, China, Manila, and California. "Boy" Charlton will be one of the first:'approached to make the trip. The rest of the six will be chosen from Frank. Doyle (sprint), Moss Christie (distance), and Keith .Kirklam! (badc-stroke), N.S.W.; R. Crier (middle-distances), and J. Sous;.ari (breaatatrakc), Queensland; E. W. Jones (distances), West Australia; and llio best Australian diver. The events will be: 100 metres, 200 metres, SOU metres and 1500 metres free style; 200 metres and 800 metres teams' races, 100 metres back-stroke; 200 metres breast stroke, and diving.
