WORK OR GOLF?

There was an unparalleled scene on the London Stock Exchange when Sir Charles Pulley, an elderly member, was booed for 2d minutes because he had suggested in a newspaper that members should work on Saturday mornings instead of golfing. When Sir (’has. Pulley arrived members ceased work and started booing and jeering. A couple who attempted to protest had to make a hurried exit in order to avoid threatened attacks. sir (has. Pulley went home upset. The scene is described as the most disgraceful on record. Sir L’has. Pulley, in a statement, said it was ridiculous that the Stock Exchange should close on Saturday in a time of national stress when European exchanges were open.
