AUSTRALIAN RETURNS 2197 INJURED LAST YEAR (Received October 6. noon.) MELBOURNE. Oct. 6. According to a return tabled in the Assembly. the number of accidents in which motor vehicles were involved in 1925 was 3491, of which 3179 occurred in the metropolitan area. The principal causes were; Motorists’ negligence, 1754: pedestrians’ negligence, 510; motorists on the, wrong side of the road, 238; drunken motorists, 71 ; and drunken pedestrians. 52. Altogether 2197 persons were injured. 180 fatallv.
