NEGLIGENCE ALLEGED

FATAL MOTOR ACCIDENT. CAR DRI VER CHARGED. (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night. Francis James Holland, a. milk vendor, died on September 23 from injuries received in a collision with a motor ear at the intersection of Armagh street and Barba does street. In the Lower Court- to-day the driver of the car, Gillen Murphy,- a motor salesman, was charged with having negligently driven a car, thereby causing Holland’s death. The adjourned inquest concerning Holland’s death was continued concurrently with the hearing of the charge. The Coroner returned a verdict*that deceased died as the result of coma following fracture at the base of the skull sustained by being thrown out of his conveyance iif a collision with a motor car driven by Giffen Murphy. Murphy pleaded not guilty to a charge of negligent driving, reserved his defence and was committed to the Supreme Court.' for trial. Bail was allowed in personal recognisance of £IOO and one surety of £.IOO.
