FIGURES INCORRECT
N.Z. BUTTER IN STORE '' GREATLY EXAGGERATED.»' (Sydney Sun Cables.) LONDON, October 1. With -reference to a recent message concerning butter, the figures given in it should read 700.000 boxes of New Zealand butler out of a total of 1,000,000 boxes from all sources in cold storage. ■•'• These figures wore based on 'the London produce exchange estimates. It is stated to-day that 50,000 boxes.of New Zealand butter have been sold since September 20, leaving 650,000 boxes in cool store. Mr. Grounds states: "There are no reliable means of estimating the total quantities of all sources stored, because returns are not compulsory, but from- the figures supplied me I should sav that the estimate that there were 700,000 boxes of New Zealand butter in cold storage on September 21 is greatly exaggerated." ........ ■ Ho'added: "There is undoubtedly some annoyance among London buyers at the New Zealand factories withholdinf supplies from the market, and regarding this I am shortly cabling New Zealand."
