BOWLS.
The Kahutia Bowling Club opened its No. 1 green for play yesterday afternoon. There was a fair muster of members, all anxious to test the playing conditions of the green prior to the official opening on October 14. Several interesting contests ensued, and one and all were delighted with tin* excellent nianruir in which the different rinks played, the bowls running evenly, with a nice draw on either hand. Provided the conditions are favorable, pick-up games will take place to-morrow. The TV Kara ha- Bowling Club opens its season officially on Thursday next. Thci green is reported in good order, and it is anticipated there will be a good attendance, of town bowlers at the function.
