BOXING.

SHOW-WEEK TOURNEY. MATCH FOR JACK HEENEY. The Gisborne Boxing Association has matched Al McDonald, of Queensland, the well-known welter-weight 'boxer, with Jack Heeney, of Gisborne, and ttie contest will form the principal attraction at the Show Week tournament, for which arrangements have been proceeding during the past few weeks. The visiting boxer, who is now in training in Gisborne, is paying a brief visit to New Zealand, and has already visited several towns. He has had two fights, one with Salvino Jamito, the Filipino, at Wanganui, and the other at Napier, with Dick Elmour, the Frenchman. Both fights were described as firstclass contests, and the Jamito display was reported as the best seen in the river city. McDonald is a competentlooking individual, with the mark of the professional 'boxer on him, and with the quietness of manner peculiar to those best able to take care of themselves. He should exttind Heeney, who has not had a fight for some months, but who has lost' none of his standing as one of the hardest members of the boxing fraternity in New Zealand to beat, and whose popularity is as great as his heart. In connection with the Show Week tournament, the Boxing Association has arranged to .stage two special amateur bouts, one between A. Seastrand, of tfapier, and J. Franklin, of Gisborne; and the other between Williams, of Hawke's Bay, and W. Robertson, the well-known Gisborne welter-weight. Williams, who fought in Gisborne on a previous occasion, has filled out remarkably since then, and now promises to make things exciting for the 'best of the light-weights and welters in the amateur ranks.
