COMPENSATION CLAIM

SEQUEL TO ACCIDENT (Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON N\. this day. A sitting of the Arbitration Court was held here to-day, when William Frederick Liddicont, sawni'd worker at Kuctihi, claimed compensation from Kyjiie and Company, Ltd., sawmillerL Raetihi and Haw era. Plaintiff was injured in November, 11125,' and alleged lie had been totally disabled ever since from working. The defendant company contended Die period of disablement ended on May 21 last, since when plaintiff hail been fully capable of resuming his duties. A Raetilii doctor gave evidence as to the wasting of plaintiff’s thigh as the result of the accident, with injury to the sciatic nerve. Plaintiff was totally disabled for the bush work concerned. After medical evidence had been given for the defence that the sciatica was not due to the accident, the Court said it seemed from the evidence that plaintiff would be fit to work at present, but for the sciatica and synovitis. The Court decided lo award compensation from the time of Ihe accident to date, at Ihe rate of £2 19s 2d a week, plus expenses, and credit would he given for Hie amount already paid.
