RUGBY.
COOKE TO RETIRE REASON NOT GIVEN IS TT A WEDDING RING l (Special to the lierald.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. To-day’s Rugby match with Canterbury will see the last appearance of A. E. Cooke, the brilliant Hawko’s Bay, Auckland, and New Zealand fiveeighths in big football. He told a reporter that he would be retiring from football after the match.
He gave no definite reason for his retirement, but a wedding ring may have something to do with it. Cooke is at tin 1 top of his form at present, and it is a pity to see him go out of the game. Still", lie himself knows best.
