WIDOW GETS £750
COMPENSATION AWARDED SURF BOAT FATALITY (Per Press Association.i WELLINGTON, this day. in the Arbitration Court Lilian Carney, widow of John Carney, who lost his life while landing cargo from the steamer Paknru at Akitio, on June 10, in a rough sea, through a surf boat swamping, was awarded £750 compensation.
It was slated that the only reason tlk» case had come before the court was that the claimant lived in England, ami the necessary proofs of marriage were required.
