PRICE FIXATION
PROBLEM OF GROCERS TOO MUCH CUTTING (Special to the Herald.) AUCKLAND, this day. An invitation from the Master Grocers' Association for the attendance of a representative at a special meeting to discuss "the growing prevalence of pricecutting,'' waa considered by the Auckland Provincial Industrial Mr. J. Findlay, secretary of the Ind«|P trial Association, said that more iniormation would be necessary. One idea suggested was the fixation of prices, but such a suggestion had to be considered carefully. Its operation wotdd be opposed by Labor and might involve a breach of the Commercial Trusts Act.
Mr. Parkinson remarked that it seemed a good subject for debate, especially in relation to the objections of Labor. "We have a lot of laws fixing the price of Jabor," he aflded. "You could argue on their own lines."
Another member said the matter did not come within the realm of the Industrial Association. The grocers would have to meet the difficulty in their dwn way. The matter was deferred pending further inquiries.
