Y.W.C.A.

BUILDING ALTERATIONS During the past month alterations have been made to the Y.W.C.A. hostel, and the association will now be able to house permanent boarder?, instead of casuals as formerly. For the past year the hostel, with its limited accommodation, has housed casual boarderF. Frequent inquiries for board decided the board of directors to make the alterations. The custonyof sci-ving afternoon tea. had to be abandoned some months ago, but this service has been recently resumed and plain afternoon tea is now served daily.

At present all the organised groups within the association are working for a " Ulue and White Fair," ,to be hold on October 14, when the proceeds will be devoted to Gisborne's share in lafe support of the Dominion's representatives in India, China, and Japan, and also for the local budget.. Great interest, is centred around the proposed visit of Miss Miclii Kawai, the national general secretary of the Y.W.C.A. of Japan. Miss Kawai will probably visit Australia and'New Zealand early in 19?>7. /
