THK CHRISTCHIJRCH INCREAST
DEARER WHEAT UNLIKELY
(Special to the Herald.)
CHRISTOHURCH, this dav
Tin 1 action of the millers in increasing- the price of flour in Ohristehurch by £.l a ton raised hopes in some quarters that I hey would be prepared to give more Tor wheal and that the difficulty existing regarding the disposal of wheat still held by growers and merchants would be removed. One merchaiil stated yesterday that Ik l had approached the millers to see if they would pay more for wheat, but apparently they were not prepared to do so. The millers stated that while the juice of flour had been raised in Ohristehurch. reductions had been made in the price of flour for shipment to the North Island; therefore it. was unlikely the returns of the millers from the sale of flour would show any increase. For this reason he did not see how they could give unm l for wheat.
