SATURDAY'S HOCKEV

There was a fair attendance at the Reserve on (Saturday afternoon, vthon three games were played in the ladies' senior hockey competition', and one match in the junior competition. Excellent weather prevailed, and the grounds were in better playing order*.

The match between Tukura I' and High School Old (lifts resulted in a draw, each side scoring one goal. Old Girls gave a rather disappointing exhibition, and were nor up to their usual standard of play. They had the best of it in the first half, however, but in the second the defence was too strong for them, and. although for the major portion of the time play centred round the Tukura goal-mouth, Old Girls did not succeed in finding the net. Miss McDinrmid scored for Old Girls and Mrs. Horsfall Cor Tukura. Messrs (Ireig and Duncan were the referees.

An even, interesting game resulted when High School B met and defeated Tukura A by one goal to nil. The losers owed their defeat, however, to Ihe fact that they could muster only seyen players, but even with their depleted ranks they put up n fair performance. School/ on the other hand, were not very brilliant, and should hate won by a wider margin. The biggest share of the work for school fell on the shoulders of Misses .f. Weils, \V. Fararu and P. Miller, the one goal being secured by the fii's'tmentioned player. Mr. A. Cassin -Was the referee.

Mahaki defeated High School A by three goals to ail, in a fairly interest-, ing match. The country team had slightly the best of it, the players being older and more experienced, but the schoolgirls were superior in their knowledge of the science of the game. Misses L. Kingi, M. Nikora, and \V. Knpuarou each scored goals for the winners, and Miss B. Harris made one score for High School. Messrs. .Henderson and Greig controlled the game. Manutukc defeated High School by eight goals to nil in the junior competition, the game being distinctly onesided. Miss N. Jones scrfrod five goals and Miss P. Ruru three for the winners. Mr. Cassin was referee.
