WAIROA HOSPITAL.
For the month of May the matron of the Wairoa. Hospital, Alias Wall, reported that the month had hem a very uusy one and, unfortunately, a number of deaths had occurred. The staff was still kept- fairly busy, but the casts wore now of a less serums nature bister Moore wished to resign on July 1, completing the three months' she had arranged to stay. Sister Owen will relieve her on that dhte. Sister Pearson reported for duty on Alay 31, alien' bet long illness, and is now quite well? As there is a lull stall’, all material will bo math; up, and there will he no necessity for outside sew ini? help. A concert party arranged by Mr. lowdrell gave a. very enjoyable programme. A repetition would he much appreciated by the patients and staff. The donors of gifts and members of the concert party wore accorded a, hearty vote of thanks. The medical superintendent, Dr. TLaMwriglit, reported that during Alay, 25 patients were admitted, 21 discharged, and 12 remained in at the end of tho month. The largest number of deaths in any month (5) since the influenza epidemic of 1918 (when there were 19) had occurred from various causes. There were 10 operations during Ihet month, three infectious cases were in hospital, ono typhoid, ono pneumonia, and ono of strcplo coejhil sore throat. No- patient- had been in hospital for more than one month. There was an urgent need of certain material and fittings.
