INCREASE OF 1,250,000.
INFLUX OF FOREIGNERS

A provisional estimate of the March census, which is unlikely to be more than a few thousands out, shows that France's population totals 40,500,000 —an increase of 1,250,000 sinccr 1921. This increase is due to the influx of foreigners, who in 1221 numbered 1,550,000. At present there are more than. 3,000,000 foreigners in France. Tims the native-born population has actually decreased. 'The returns prove that the inhabitants nro returning to the devastated regions.
