The Gisborne Co-operative Building Society will meet at 8 o'clock on Monday evening, June 14, :in Redstone's Hall to dispose of four loans, of £IOOO. and a liailol loan of £IOOO. Notice regarding same appears on Page 1 of this issue. The evenings given by the Literary Circle of the Gisborne Women's Club are much looked forward to. Another of these delightful evenings will be held on Tuesday next., when Mr. Ernest Edmonds, M.A., Cambridge, E.R.G.S., will lecture, on “ Humorous Jottings from an Indian Diary.” Mr. Edmonds was three anj. a half years in India and’, is the late Minister of Education for Haler Kot.la State, India. As it- is an open evening, members limy invitei their friends, and gentlemen are invited. 'A short musical programme is being nr ranged and) supper will be- served. A small charge will ho made for admission.

Services of exceptional interest are announced for to-morrow in the Salvation Army Citadel. Ensign H. 0. Coffin, officer in charge of the Vivian Street Citadel, Wellington, and conductor of the Silver Band there, which is recognised as one of the finest bands in New Zealand, will direct. He "ill he assisted by Bandmaster Nootnoy, a composer V brass band music. Thu Citadel wits packed to the- doors for the initial meeting on Thursday, when a public, tea was lipid, followed by a- band festival, in which the visitors took a. prominent part. Ensign Gofiin will give the addresses in the morning and evening'gatherings, and the afternoon period will be. largely devoted to music, song, and story. There are 500 free seats. The Silver Band will take a prominent part in the proceedings outdoors and inside.
